Class two have had great fun this term with a variety of visitors and special events. The children celebrated Chinese New Year and had the chance to sample Chinese food. All of the school took part in the Sport’s Relief Day and danced, walked and played games throughout the day. Class Two had a visit from the fire service, where they all got to ask questions and practise using the hose with the firemen.
The children also had the chance to make Easter buns and are taking part in an Easter egg hunt on the last day of term.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all back after the Easter holiday and hope you have had an enjoyable break . School is very exciting this term with the weather improving; the children will be making the most of the outdoor environment.

Class timetable
P.E is on a Monday morning and Thursday afternoon. It is a great help if you can help get your child get ready for PE on a Monday morning when they arrive in class. Although PE kits are not always used on a Thursday, I would appreciate them staying in school until Friday. Then if the weather is favourable we might use the field for some extra activities. Spellings are given to pupils on a Monday and Year1 children complete their spelling test on a Friday afternoon with Mr Booth. Homework activities are set through the week in the green book or sometimes on paper. Children read with a member of staff throughout the week so reading bags are essential every day.

Curriculum
The children are exploring a theme about their local environment this term with the help of a teddy bear called Barnaby Bear. They will be looking at their local amenities and visiting the park, local shops and comparing this to holidays and other countries. The children will also be looking closely at making animal homes and exploring mini beasts. Class 1 and Class 2 are hoping to arrange an educational visit to The Butterfly House, Sheffield to explore animals in different habitats. Year 1 children continue to have literacy and numeracy lessons everyday and all the pupils complete Letters and Sounds phonics work every day. Class 1 and Class 2 continue to work closely together and share the use of the outdoor provision and other resources as well as been offered opportunities to prepare, cook and taste foods.

Other useful information
My days out of the classroom remain the same this term. I work with Mrs Coverdale on a Wednesday and have PPA on a Thursday morning. For continuity and to provide a settled environment for the children both of these sessions will to be covered by Mrs Bamforth. Mrs Ward , Mrs Broadhurst and Mr Booth continue to work in Class 2.
