Dear Parent

VISIT TO THE YORKSHIRE SCULPTURE PARK THURSDAY 16 JUNE 2011

Subject to there being sufficient voluntary funds available, we have arranged for Class 7 to spend the morning of Thursday 16 June at the Hepworth Wakefield Art Gallery and the afternoon at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Bretton. The visit will provide curriculum links to pupils’ work in Art.

During our Art lessons next half term, Class 7 will be studying the sculpture work by Barbara Hepworth. This visit will enable your child to gain a deeper understanding of her work.

Following our visit, pupils will be given opportunities to explore with a range of different media during our art lessons, whilst working in the style of Barbara Hepworth.

The party will travel by bus, which will leave school at 9.30pm and return within the School day. The suggested voluntary contribution per child will be £7.00 for the bus fare and insurance. A packed lunch will be required; drinks should NOT be in glass bottles. Spending money should be limited to £5.00. The cost of the visit should be paid no later than FRIDAY 10 JUNE 2011. Cheques made payable to Shafton Primary School.

As pupils will be representing the School, their behaviour must be of the highest standard. Attendance on such visits is, as you know, regarded as a privilege and not a right. They will travel in full school uniform and will need a coat. Would you please complete and return to school as soon as possible the attached slip. Should you need further information please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Hemingway.

Please note that since 1 April 1989 and the introduction of the Education Reform Act such activities come under the Governors' Charging Policy; if there are insufficient funds available the activity will not proceed.

Yours sincerely

LJ Coverdale

Headteacher
