COMIC RELIEF- FRIDAY 18 MARCH 2011
Dear Parent
As part of our work to promote community cohesion within school we would like to inform you of a range of special events in school for this year’s Comic Relief. This year the fundraising will take place on Friday 18 March and the theme is to ‘do something funny for money.’
We will be selling red noses in school during the week of the event at a cost of £1. Also, pupils are permitted to wear non-uniform on this day at the cost of a suggested donation of £1. Pupils have two options this year in terms of their choice of non-uniform dress. All pupils are invited to dress as their favourite comedy character from television, film or literature and the best dressed pupil will win a prize. Pupils who do not wish to take part in the competition can simply dress in red for the day. As a final fundraiser, we will place two buckets on the playground on the day of Comic Relief; these buckets are being used to collect any loose change that you would like to donate. Please give as many small coins as you can to help support the charity. Our staff have agreed that for every £10 raised through this initiative, a member of staff will be subject to a custard pie in the face!
This indignity will be suffered at a special assembly at the end of the day. The assembly will also see pupils of all ages compete in the ‘do something funny for money’ talent show. During the week commencing Monday 14 March each class will hold auditions for the talent show and teachers will select two entrants for the whole school show. Everyone is permitted to enter either individually or as part of a group so make sure you start practising your act! Finally, as part of Class 8’s enterprise project we will create a special Comic Relief edition of Primary Print that will go on sale on Friday also. Each copy will cost 50p and all proceeds will be added to our grand total along with any other monies raised during the day.
Yours sincerely
Mr L McClure
